Is it just us, or does anyone else have big dreams of enthusiastically celebrating the arrival of each new season? (Winter gets more of a side-eye, but even little lambs like us eventually come around to making the most of cozy season.)
Spring, though? Spring is a full-on renaissance. Longer days, sunnier skies, fresh flowers, and suddenly, going for a walk in the rain sounds more aesthetic than wet and gloomy. Winter is being washed away (ha ha — be gone!), baby animals are appearing everywhere, and we are happy to remind you that spring is the season when Crocs reclaim their rightful place in the fashion hierarchy.
Winter is over! Spring is here!
Winter is over! Spring is here!
Sure, rising temps might mark the end of passing off pajamas as “matching sets,” but with the right mindset, that’s just another seasonal blessing.
Enjoy our happy little lamb memes that feature five fun ways to celebrate spring — whether through local adventures, far-off travels, or simply soaking up all the spring vibes. Hurrah!
1. Stay up past 6pm to stargaze
Whatever your thoughts on Daylight Savings Time, spring blesses us with longer days — which means our waking lives now have permission to continue on past dinner and a sleepy-eyed couch session of Wheel of Fortune. Aka, more time for fun. Sunset strolls, twilight hikes, and golden-hour city adventures are officially back on the dopamine menu.
Whether you're dining al fresco at a scenic spot, sipping a cocktail as the sky turns pink, or simply reveling in the fact that it’s not pitch black at 5 PM, spring evenings are a whole vibe. And the night sky? She’s putting on a show. 🌙✨
Spring 2025 is bringing a celestial lineup worth staying up for — think meteor showers, planetary alignments, and sparkly night skies that deserve a spot on your calendar. So whether you're stargazing from your backyard or planning a trip to the ultimate dark-sky destination, ‘tis the season for stellar views — literally.
When and Where to Watch Spring Celestial Events
Celebrate the Spring Equinox: On March 20, 2025, at 5:01 a.m. EST, the Spring Equinox marks the official start of spring. This event brings nearly equal day and night lengths, making it the perfect time to enjoy those longer evenings.
Catch the Zodiacal Light: After the equinox, look westward about 90 minutes after sunset to see the zodiacal light. This faint, pyramid-shaped glow is created when sunlight scatters off interplanetary dust, and it’s visible in the Northern Hemisphere.
Don’t Miss the Partial Solar Eclipse: On March 29, 2025, parts of North America, Europe, Africa, Greenland, and Russia will have a front-row seat to a partial solar eclipse. The moon will pass between Earth and the Sun, offering a captivating celestial show.
Enjoy Meteor Showers: The Lyrids meteor shower peaks on April 22, 2025, with up to 20 meteors per hour, and the Eta Aquarids peak on May 4, offering up to 30 shooting stars per hour.
Witness Chicagohenge: In Chicago, during the equinoxes, the setting sun aligns perfectly with the city's east-west streets. From March 20 to 23, 2025, you can experience the stunning visual effect known as Chicagohenge.
Stargaze with Venus: Throughout spring, Venus will shine brightly in the evening sky, setting after sunset. It's the perfect time to stargaze and appreciate our celestial neighbor.
Savor Longer Twilight: With longer daylight hours, you get more time to enjoy the evening twilight. It's the ideal moment for a stroll, outdoor dinner, or just relaxing under the ever-changing spring sky.
2. Start your own garden… or travel to see fancy (and famous) ones
Spring is obviously an ideal time of year to dig into gardening! Not only does it give you a chance to get your hands dirty, but it’s also packed with health benefits. We recently watched an episode of one of those blue zone docuseries on Netflix, and alllll the 90-somethings were growing their own veggies!
No garden space? No worries. Community gardens or creative indoor setups like this indoor garden can do the trick, no matter your space.
And if you find yourself wanting to be outdoorsy in a way that doesn’t get dirt under your fingernails, the next section is for you. You might even find yourself setting a few flight alerts.
The Best Spring Gardens Around the World
We like to think of gardens as nature’s art galleries, and if you’re planning some spring travel this year, why not visit one of the world’s most stunning gardens? From the colorful tulip fields of Keukenhof in the Netherlands to the futuristic Supertrees in Singapore, here’s a short list of very impressive gardens around the world.

Known as the Garden of Europe, Keukenhof is famous for its jaw-dropping tulip displays — 800 varieties, to be exact, plus other gorgeous blooms. Just 30 minutes outside of Amsterdam, Keukenhof attracts millions of visitors every year from mid-March to mid-May. Trust us, it’s worth the hype.
Butchart Gardens — Vancouver Island, Canada

Gardens by the Bay — Singapore
This place is straight-up futuristic — think Supertrees, mind-blowing architecture, and sustainable design. Gardens by the Bay is like stepping into a sci-fi film, only with lush greenery, stunning floral domes, and a nightly light show that’s pure magic. Nature, but make it high-tech.

3. Grab a basket & support local entrepreneurs at farmers’ markets
When we plan trips abroad, making time for local markets is a non-negotiable! It’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture, discover new foods and products, and a place to practice your language and bartering skills.
Market adventures are just fun — a laid-back morning that gets you outside, connects you to the local community, and is an all-around healthy, feel-good activity. Especially when you bring a cute farmer’s market basket to fill with fresh flowers, homemade jams (more on that below!), and seasonal produce.
If you're lucky enough to travel, exploring the world’s best farmers' markets should be on your itinerary. These bustling hubs are a front-row seat to local life — and some of the best food you’ll ever eat. Here are some of our favorite markets around the world.
The Best Local Markets Around the World
Borough Market — London, England
One of the world’s most famous food markets, Borough Market springs to life with colorful seasonal produce, artisanal cheeses, and fresh-baked goods. The internet is full of opinions on what to eat here, but we say: forget the hype and trust your instincts — you’ll find something amazing at every turn.
Tsukiji Outer Market — Tokyo, Japan
Spring in Japan means sakura (cherry blossom) season, and Tsukiji’s outer market is the perfect spot to enjoy incredible sushi and seasonal treats like sakura mochi. Get there early, and don’t think twice about seafood for breakfast. It’s a delicious experience you won’t forget.
Mercado de la Boqueria — Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona’s iconic La Boqueria market bursts with fresh produce and Spanish delicacies. It’s a riot of color and flavor, especially in spring when strawberries, cherries, and artichokes take center stage. Grab a fresh juice and savor the flavors of Barcelona!
Taling Chan Floating Market — Bangkok, Thailand
You haven’t truly lived until you’ve experienced a Thai market. Taling Chan offers a one-of-a-kind riverside adventure, with vendors serving fresh seafood and delicious Thai dishes, all set against spring’s perfect weather before the rainy season arrives. Grab your camera and your appetite for this laid-back, local Bangkok adventure!
Chichi Market — Chichicastenango, Guatemala
Set in the stunning highlands of Guatemala, Chichicastenango Market (or Chichi Market) is a vibrant showcase of the country’s Mayan heritage. Local vendors offer everything from handwoven textiles and intricate pottery to colorful masks and fresh produce. St. Lawrence Market — Toronto, Canada
St. Lawrence Market is a must for food lovers, with its wide selection of fresh Ontario-grown produce, local meats, and iconic maple syrup. As one of the oldest and most famous markets in North America, it offers a true taste of Canada’s culinary heritage, especially during the spring season.
4. Invest in smart and stylish spring accessories
After a round of spring cleaning, you might find yourself with extra closet space — and the urge to fill it back up with fresh fashion finds. And while less is often more, a few practical accessories (yes, we’re calling sunscreen an accessory) can make everything feel brand new again.
Whether you're browsing a local market, wandering a dreamy garden, or jetting off on a weekend getaway, these spring essentials will keep you effortlessly stylish and prepped for sunnier days ahead.
Spring Fashion Accessories
The Best Mineral Sunscreens
Protecting your skin is non-negotiable—especially when the sun is sticking around longer. Mineral sunscreens, made with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, create a physical barrier against UV rays (instead of absorbing them like chemical sunscreens). And since SPF is a travel must-have, why not grab a formula that feels just as good as it looks? These picks are lightweight, slightly tinted for no-makeup days, and leave zero greasy residue:
Cool Spring Hats
A good hat = instant travel glow-up. It adds effortless style, shields your face and neck from the sun, and just looks cool. Whether you’re into floppy brims, structured fedoras, or packable sun hats that won’t get crushed in your carry-on, sun hats are the undisputed upgrade from winter’s beanie.
Classic Sunglasses
Sunglasses: the ultimate travel companion. They protect your eyes, complete any outfit, and (bonus!) provide the perfect excuse to avoid unnecessary small talk. A timeless pair will take you from crisp spring mornings to golden-hour adventures without missing a beat.
With your skin protected and your travel accessories on point, you're ready to take on your next adventure — safely, stylishly, and sunburn-free!
5. Celebrate the season while eating homemade scones with jam and clotted cream
Remember that homemade jam you hypothetically picked up at the local farmers' market (referenced earlier)? Well, it's time to put it to good use in our grand finale of ways to celebrate spring — and what better way than with scones?
Picture this: it’s a gorgeous Saturday morning in spring. Your windows are open, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and you’re suddenly overcome with the strange urge to put milk in your tea. Before you know it, your DoorDashing ingredients to bake homemade scones.
Here’s our favorite English scone recipe — it’s from Ina Garten, who as far as we know, is not English, but we trust this recipe because it’s delicious and it just feels like all of Ina lives in a perpetual state of springtime.
Ina Garden’s English Creme Scones Recipe
Scones, of course, are nothing without clotted cream, so be sure you make some of that, too and top with your market jam of choice (it’s strawberry-rhubarb for us!). Like the little lamb above, you can enjoy on a picnic blanket in the sunshine with a glass of champagne — or just happily devour it fresh out of the oven and then take a nice spring nap.
If you don’t want to do any of this work, and instead just go to the lands where scones are baked on the daily, that’s an option, too. We recommend the Cotswolds. This charming region in England is renowned for its quaint villages, stunning gardens, and of course, its traditional afternoon teas. Imagine exploring historic manor houses, wandering through vibrant markets, and ending your day with a delightful tea time experience straight out of a storybook.
